The Lady Braves have been hampered by a knee injury to Elyse Penaluna, which is expected to keep her sidelined for another month.
Despite the lack of height in the frontcourt, the Lady Braves head to Canberra this weekend with a 2-2 record.
“We had our best training session of the year last night,’’ Goodman said on Friday.
“Kelly Wilson took over and led on the floor really well. She went to a level that I haven’t seen from her before.
“It made me feel as though we’re in a really good space for this weekend.
“If we could come back from Canberra with two wins it would be fantastic.”
The Lady Braves play Canberra (0-4) on Saturday night before tackling the Basketball Australia Centre Of Excellence (2-0) on Sunday.
“The COE game is a scary one,’’ Goodman said.
“They have a lot of height, which is something we’re lacking at the moment.
“We have to get better on the rebounding count. Even in our wins we’ve been beaten on the boards.”
At first glance the Lady Braves should have too much class for Canberra on Saturday night.
“Canberra has a lot of young kids in their team this year and they’re still trying to find their feet,’’ Goodman said.
“There’s talent there, so it’s hard to know what you’re going to get when you’re preparing to play them.”
The Lady Braves have the bye next weekend.
