The Bulldogs will be out to reverse their 2015 grand final defeat to Colbinabbin when the teams clash at M.J. Morgan Reserve.
But Gilchrist said it was more the chance to keep their momentum going that would drive the Bulldogs, rather than revenge for last year's loss.
"That was last year - we've just been taking each weekend at a time," she said.
"We'll take on Colbo knowing its going to be a tough game. We just plan for (the game) based on it what's happened this year.
"They have a new goal shooter (opposition coach Liz Cobbledick) that we haven't seen before, we just have to wait and see how that pans out."
The Bulldogs have started the season smartly with the three consecutive wins, by one goal against Leitchville-Gunbower and by 50-plus margins against Heathcote and Elmore.
The experience of a close encounter against the Bombers should come in handy if the contest against the Grasshoppers is tight as expected.
Gilchrist said there was no doubt North Bendigo and Colbinabbin brought out the best in each other.
"It always a great battle when we play Colbo. It's a high intensity game, all 14 players are hard it,” she said.
"We have three new faces in our A-grade line-up and I know Colbo have a few new ones, so it's interesting how we'll match up."
The Grasshoppers have not been without injury worries, losing premiership stars Carly Geary (ankle) and Kate Chirnside (achilles) in successive weeks in rounds and two.
But they have not missed a beat under their new coach and have introduced former Rochester star Bridy Lawford in recent weeks without missing a beat.
In other games, undefeated White Hills meets Heathcote, Lockington-Bamawm United hosts Elmore and Mount Pleasant plays Leitchville-Gunbower.
