That was the equation facing a group of the Loddon Mallee region's top grade six netballers at Epsom-Huntly Recreation Reserve on Wednesday.
The aspiring netballers from schools across Bendigo, as well as Newstead, Rochester, Stanhope and Tongala, are vying for a spot in the School Sports Victoria (SSV) 12-and-under team to contest the national championships later this year.
They went through the paces under the watcful eye of selectors, Kangaroo Flat 2014 premiership coach Janelle Hobbs, former Sandhurst A-grade coach Carol Cathcart and Jan Mannes, from Netball Victoria.
Six of the hopefuls will be chosen to represent the region at the state trials in Melbourne.
Netball Victoria region liaison officer Gill Davey said the SSV competition was another pathway to top level netball, including the ANZ Championship and Australian Diamonds.
Numbers at this year’s trials were down from about 70 girls last year after changes to the registration system.
