The fluorescent green, half-metre high lantern was the smallest and lightest of three in the Emmaline Drive property, Sergeant Matt Hunt said.
"But it would quite possibly have required more than one person and maybe a vehicle as well,” Sergeant Hunt said.
The sculpture was stolen between 5pm on Sunday and 6am Monday morning after the unknown persons entered via the front yard.
The house is on a one-acre block and is visible from the street.
Police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact the Bendigo Station on 5448 1300 or via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
“It’s pretty distinctive,” Sergeant Hunt said.
“I’d say anyone who sees a big fluro-green lantern should contact us.”
