Bridgewater police inspected the site and confirmed the plane had landed safely near the Bridgewater-Maldon road, off the Calder Highway.
An air traffic control spokesman said the pilot had reported trouble with the alternator.
The spokesman said the pilot was on a Visual Flight Rule and did not have their flight path listed with air traffic control.
Sergeant Don Frazer, of Maryborough police, said police were still on scene. "It may have just been a glitch on the radar that's reported it missing," he said. "We're still confirming that at this stage. Everyone in the plane is safe."
