The Women’s Golf Victoria event has drawn more than 200 female players to contest four grades at Neangar Park and Blevoir Park golf clubs.
Dengate’s 71 at Neangar Park gave her a five-shot lead in the A-grade gross event going into today’s final round at Belvoir Park.
Dengate, who plays off a handicap of plus one, beat the previous course record, held by Neangar Park member Janelle Brown, by three shots.
Sale’s Bonnie Chignell is in second place after firing a 76, while Dengate’s clubmate Kristen Farmer (scratch) is a further two shots back.
Janelle Brown (four) is the best-placed of the Bendigo contingent local in a tie for fifth after shooting an 81.
Mt Alexander’s Fleur Smith achieved a score of 92 off the stick and leads B-grade on 74 nett.
The C and D-grade action was at Belvoir Park near Big Hill.
Keysborough’s Sabina Rosser leads the C-grade event after a score of 91 off the stick, nett 68.
Barham’s Julie Mortlock leads D-grade after 95 off the stick, 67 nett.
Today’s play for A and B-grades is at Belvoir Park, while C and D-grades head to Neangar Park on Averys Road in Eaglehawk.
