TSC chief executive officer Aaron de Rozario said his organisation was aware of the Bendigo Lifts 4 Cash Facebook group and has asked the social media network to take down the page.
“In addition, the TSC is continuously conducting covert and overt operations to identify those involved and take action as required,” he said.
Mr de Rozario confirmed the TSC had issued cease and desist letters to “a number” of drivers last year.
He reminded drivers offering rides in exchange for money without accreditation and a vehicle license risked prosecution, and he encouraged those keen to continue the service to complete their required paperwork.
“Taxi licences are readily available from the TSC, so there is opportunity for existing and new entrants to acquire more taxi licences to meet community demand as required,” Mr de Rozario said.
