A new anti-graffiti project will give a group of young Bendigonians the chance to improve their artistic skills and collaborate to create a work of art in a lane way in the CBD. City youth officer Rory White said the city was looking for emerging or aspiring street artists.
“This is a really great opportunity for young artists to work with local mentors, learn new skills and how to approach street art legally while connecting with other local artists and exploring Bendigo’s street art scene," he said.
I'll be helping mentor some of the younger ones – but I'm sure they'll be pretty handy themselves,"
- Graphic designer and street artist Reece Hendy
Workshops for the project will take place during April and June and participants will be mentored by professional artists who will help them develop their skills and knowledge of street art.
Mr White said details were being finalised but organisers were hoping to get at least 15 artists to collaborate on a mural 20-metres wide and about four-metres high. He said organisers were also hoping to get a young, local filmmaker to document the process.
Those interested should register at via the Yo Bendigo website by March 31.
