Ryan will head to Barcelona in May with the Australian under-13 Futsal team, while Lewis has been selected in the under-15 team that will play in Brazil.
The brothers were selected in the national teams following the Australian School Championships held in Brisbane last September.
Lewis’ Australian selection for the November trip isn’t the first time he has been on an international tour.
In October last year the 14-year-old toured the United Kingdom for 20 days with the Australian under-14 Futsal team.
“It was a great experience last time with really good competition, and I’m looking forward to this next trip to Brazil,” Lewis said this week.
For Ryan, 12, the trip to Barcelona will be his first time playing Futsal for Australia.
“It’s very exciting to be part of it,” Ryan said.
Both Lewis and Ryan attend school at Girton Grammar. Lewis is in year nine and Ryan is in year seven.
Ahead of the overseas trips, the Merriman family is hoping to fundraise with the support of local businesses.

The Merriman brothers are just two of what’s about 900 players in 145 senior and junior teams that play Futsal in Bendigo weekly, with games scattered across five stadiums on Monday, Thursday and Friday nights.
