Four vehicles, including a red station wagon, silver Kia, tow truck and ambulance, were involved in the High Street smash about 11.30am. Leading Senior Constable Pat Allan said the female L-plater and her mother were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
“A 19-year-old L-plater in a red station wagon was travelling east in Lockwood Road and attempted to turn right into High Street,” he said.
“She turned into the path of a west-bound tow truck.
“The tow-truck has collided with the station wagon, then struck a silver Kia which, in turn, has struck the side of a passing ambulance.”
Leading Senior Constable Allan said there were no patients in the ambulance. “It was chaos,” he said.
“It took ages to clear the scene – probably an hour and a half.”
Leading Senior Constable Allan said the station wagon was most likely a write-off and there was minor to moderate damage to the other vehicles.
