EARLIER: TASMANIA Fire Service is planning contingency measures to potentially bring in more interstate firefighters.
According to the senior state officer John Holloway, there are already significant numbers in the state - about 170.
At 9am the TFS issued its third smoke alert in two days, with the latest covering the North West Coast and Northern Midlands.
There are still five advice warnings and more than 50 bushfires burning across the states.
``At the moment we are regularly replacing them but we are looking at putting in plans around that,'' Mr Holloway said.
He said more would be discussed at a press conference in Hobart at 2pm.
The press conference will also advise of the current conditions and what can be expected this week.
This morning's smoke alert was due to a bushfire at Pipeline Road, Mawbanna.
They advise there is no threat to communities but there may be smoke and ash around this area.
The TFS continued to advise people travelling in these areas of bad visibility, to exercise caution and for those driving to turn on headlights and drive slowly.
Those with respiratory concerns should follow their medical action plan.
