Bendigo Lawn Quest will be determined to prove last week’s victory against the ladder-leading Spring Gully Butterflies on the grasscourts was no fluke.
The victory kept Quest well in contention for finals action in the Quest Apartments-backed pennant.
Just three points separate Quest and Saturday’s opponent, South Bendigo going into such a crucial contest.
Quest captain Isaac Watson and South Bendigo’s Ryan Brook have been two of the league’s best. In 13 matches, Watson has a sets win-loss record of 40-13. Brook has a tally of 27-13 in 14 hit-outs.
Both will play key roles in the singles and doubles matches played across courts one, five and six.
Stung by last week’s defeat, Spring Gully Butterflies will aim to rebound against Strathfieldsaye.
Key players for the Butterflies include Matt Hartland, Ryan Leader, Danielle Bowles and Dominic Barton.
Strathfieldsaye’s Jack Armstrong has racked up a sets tally of 32-7 across 13 matches. The play of Michael and Easton Smyth, Jayden and Rashelle Blencowe will be crucial to Strathfieldsaye’s chances.
The second-placed Bendigo Lawn Rising will start favourite against Epsom on courts two, seven eight.
Epsom’s winless run stands at four. Jordan Hicks, 44-16 in matches, and Eliza Long, 41-19, have had great seasons for Rising.
In section one, Panthers play Racqueteers in the all-Spring Gully match on courts 16, 17. BLTC Stingers face Spring Gully Phoenix on courts 14, 15, and Sensation meets Blue on courts 18, 19 in the battle of the BLTC Clubs.
