Axedale subdivision
The council report recommends approving plans for the subdivision of two lots totalling 80 hectares on Giris Road – despite some concerns from residents about the environmental and noise impacts of the development.
The proposal is for nine rural living lots with lots sizes ranging from 8ha to 11ha – meeting the minimum lot size of 8ha.
Council recieved 12 objections to the proposal from neighbouring properties, but the report found the proposed house lots that will be in keeping with the character of the area and that native vegetation losses would be “kept to a minimum”.
Under the proposal, the developer will not be asked to seal the access road surface.
Council reforms
Councillors will table an update on recommendations from an independent review into improved governance undertaken in 2013.
The city has implemented 56 of the 69 recommendations, including eight of those nominated by councillors as their top 10 priorities.
The recommendations still in progress include a review of policies and training relating to bullying and harassment and a cultural diversity strategy.
CEO takes annual leave
Councillors will be asked to approve annual leave for the city’s chief executive officer Craig Niemann.
They will be asked to appoint presentation and assets director Darren Fuzzard as acting CEO during this period.
