The Bendigo Art Gallery is calling on entries for a $12,000 prize which highlights contemporary drawing practice in Australia.
The biennial Paul Guest Prize has been running since 2010 and was initiated by former Family Court judge and Olympic rower, the honourable Paul Guest QC.
Mr Guest said he hoped the non-aquisitive prize would help artists reach their potential.
“My abiding and passionate interest in art commenced several decades ago and from those early beginnings I was introduced to contemporary art in a holistic way which ran parallel to my professional career,” Mr Guest said.
“I appreciate that the journey for artists is, at times, a demanding and tortuous one and I trust that in some small way I have and will continue to assist them to achieve their full potential.’
The last winner was Melbourne-based sculptor Heather Swann. The 2010 winner was Tom Nicholson and in 2010 the winner was Belinda Fox.
This year's judge is renowned draftsman and Australian artist, Godwin Bradbeer.
The entry fee is $40 per artist. To enter, click here.
