These family-owned businesses employ local people, support local organisations and help keep communities strong.
But their confidence has been dented by the Labor-Greens’ carbon tax which is driving electricity and other bills higher, and threatening local jobs.
Last weekend, one local business that had served the Kangaroo Flat community for 28 years took its last orders.
With proposed redevelopment of its premises and reduced profitability because of the carbon tax, the business could not afford to relocate. Jobs have been lost and a long-time business has closed.
The best way to begin restoring confidence for local business is to scrap the carbon tax. This will be the first order of business if the Coalition wins the next election.
Readers can be assured that I am committed to working with local small businesses to restore hope, reward and opportunity.
