Long, the number one seed in the open women’s event, breezed through her match 6-0 6-1 against Rachel McCrae in less than an hour.
The Ravenswood teenager will play a quarter-final against Ellie Baxter at 10.15am at the Bendigo Tennis Association’s complex in Nolan Street.
Garwood advanced to the quarter-finals following a 6-3 6-1 win against Alex Van De Steenoven in round one and a 7-6 6-4 second round victory over number two seed Radomir Jovanovic.
Bendigo Lawn National’s Garwood takes on Chanchai Sookton-Eng at 10.15am for a spot in the semi-finals.
Among the other Bendigo players left in the tournament are number six seed Zac Lethlean in the 16-and-under boys.
Lethlean eased past Petar Kovac 6-1 6-0 in the first round and Max Pearce 6-0 6-1 in the second round to book a quarter-final berth.
Number eight seed Jayden Blencowe is also through to the quarters after two easy victories – 6-1 6-1 against Ben Norman and 6-1 6-0 over Fergus Kearney.
Chloe Stokes lost her first match 6-2 6-4 against Bianca Jones in the 14-and-under girls, while Ryan Leader was knocked-out 6-0 6-1 in the second round after cleaning-up 6-0 6-0 in his first round match against qualifier Matthew Dunn.
Fourth seed Tiahna Leader plays a semi-final against Lori Boyd at 12.45pm today after winning her three group matches 8-1, 8-2 and 8-0 yesterday.
About 250 matches were played at the tournament yesterday, with players from across Victoria taking part.
Finals of the bronze level ranking tournament event will be played tomorrow.
