But far from the terrifying spectacle of Hells Angels conjured in many people’s minds by the word biker, these riders have only good intentions, and the run is a Toy Run for needy children.
“Bikers have big hearts when it comes down to it,” Allies Motorcycle Club event co-ordinator Annie Matheson said.
“Probably everybody in our club at some time has been hard up against it I suppose, just like everybody else in the community and it’s just a feel good thing.”
The Toy Run stops off in Castlemaine and various locations around Bendigo before reaching the lake at about midday for a barbecue and family day complete with jumping castle and fairy floss.
All members of the public are encouraged to attend.
The toys collected will go to St Vincent de Paul for distribution to local children whose families are doing it tough over Christmas and all money raised will also go to local families.
