Ms Earles moved to Bendigo from Lakes Entrance because she wanted to give her daughter the best support.
“I didn’t want to move to Melbourne and when we first moved here I saw something in the paper about Createability, an organisation that helps people who live with a disability have a chance to live a normal life,” she said.
Ms Earles said Createability organised up to five dance parties a year and her daughter was among those who helped plan them.
“It was great support for her and then after about six months I wanted to have a bit more input in the group,” she said. “We meet fortnightly and the aim of my role is to help get the ideas across of those who have a disability.”
Ms Earles said she began volunteering with Createability because she wanted to give a voice to people with a disability.
“I am a full-time carer and as a volunteer in this group I am able to provide them with a voice to be heard,” she said.
“They help organise the dance parties and I am just there to guide them.”
