Curran entered The Big Dance for a 1000m race at Sandown on Saturday, but the filly won’t be running.
“She had a jump out on Tuesday morning and that showed me that she’s not ready to race yet,’’ Curran said.
“She needs a couple more trials before she races again.”
The Big Dance, a $750 purchase, created a huge impression when she won the $280,000 VOBIS Gold Rush on debut at Bendigo in March.
She returned to racing in August at Moonee Valley, but she crashed through the running rail upon pulling up after finishing fourth.
Spring carnival plans were quickly aborted.
“We have plenty of time, so we won’t be rushing her,’’ Curran said.
“She’s only three and we haven’t reached Christmas yet. You can’t fault the horse – she’s bigger and stronger and maybe missing the spring might be a blessing in disguise. We just need to get her fitter before we take her back to the races.”
Curran’s Group-winning mare Written Dash has been sold to stud, but he has picked up her full sister Tydash. The three-year-old filly was unplaced in two starts for Pakenham trainer Lyn Shand.
She needs a couple more trials before she races again.
