EPSOM: Three large statues were stolen from the front yard of a house in Wattle Street, Epsom, on Friday night.
Two 1.2 metre tall concrete meerkat statues, and one 80 centimetre tall marble Greek goddess statue, were taken between 9.30pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday.
The marble status was valued at $2000, and the two meerkats were $200.
BENDIGO: Two people – believed to be a father and daughter team – stole an iPhone valued at more than $1000 from Big W in Bendigo Marketplace on Saturday.
The girl, aged between 13 and 15, cut the alarm cord attached to the iPhone before taking it from a display.
The man, aged between 35 and 40, stood lookout while the theft was completed.
The two then left the store at 5.30pm before the arm was activated.
The man was wearing a blue and white striped t-shirt with dark cargo pants, and had a moustache.
The girl was wearing a pink t-shirt, shorts and a black cap.
EPSOM: A resident on Goynes Road in Epsom prevented a potential fire on their property after noticing a bottle with a spark left in their drive way.
At 1.10am, the bottle of methylated spirits with a wick was placed between the car and the house, with a spark lit.
The resident kicked the bottle over and extinguished it with water.
There was no damage caused.
BENDIGO: A woman had her handbag with a large amount of jewelry inside stolen from the Emergency Department and Bendigo Health.
Between 2.30pm and 10.30pm on November 17, the woman was sitting in a cubicle being treated when the bag was stolen.
The contents were valued at $5300, including an expensive watch and jewelry.
KENNINGTON: A woman stole a wallet from a register at Woolworths Kennington on Thursday.
At 2.50pm, a man left the wallet on a register by accident, before returning soon after to collect it.
The next customer was caught on the store’s security camera picking the wallet up, looking inside, before placing it under her arm and leaving the store.
The wallet contained $410 cash, as well as credit cards and other objects.
Police have asked the woman to hand herself in, as she is identifiable because of her payment on the register.
FLORA HILL: A $3000 dirt bike was stolen from the back of a ute parked at a house on Sharon Street, Flora Hill, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Between 2am and 8.30am, the blue 2003 Yamaha WR250F motorbike with a missing seat and no starter motor was stolen.
The motorbike cannot be ridden.
BENDIGO: Police are asking for more witnesses to a serious assault near the Bendigo CBD in the early house of Saturday, November 21.
Between 2am and 3am, a 24-year-old man was walking on High Street when he stopped to talk to a group of men near the intersection with Mitchell Street.
While talking, a 25-year-old man, visibly intoxicated, barged through the group and shouted at them.
Later, the group of men saw him at Ray’s Outdoors on High Street, where a verbal altercation started.
The drunken man headbutted the victim before punching him in the face, causing a broken cheekbone, smashed eye socket and a broken jaw.
The attacker told police he had been assaulted by the victim.
Police enquiries are continuing.
