Just as Sedgwick’s Rick Ladson did against the Cowboys the previous week, Collins blasted 185 on Saturday as the Tigers amassed 6-406 declared at Champions IGA Oval.
It was Collins’ fourth career century for the Tigers – all of which have been scores above 140.
Saturday was the second season in a row the Tigers have cracked more than 400 against Axe Creek, having made 7-435 against the Cowboys last summer.
While Collins’ 185 was the headline innings, there were supporting knocks from Patrick Hartney (52), Nathan Taig (44), Kieran Nihill (37 n.o.) and Joe Hartney (25 n.o.).
On another long day in the field for the Cowboys – who in their past two games have conceded 859 runs – Grant Le Poidevin (2-84) was their sole multiple wicket-taker.
The Cowboys had five overs to bat before stumps and are 1-17, with David Cannings (7) the batsman out.
• In the clash of the two winless teams, Golden Gully is firmly on track to break its duck against West Bendigo at Ken Wust Oval.
After winning the toss and batting, West Bendigo was all out in the 47th over for 151.
Opening bowlers Bradley Smith (4-28) and Shaun O’Shea (3-23) took seven wickets between them for the Cobras.
Only Gary Singh (41) made more than 20 in another disappointing Redbacks’ batting performance.
The Cobras need just 48 runs with nine wickets in hand after ending the day at 1-104, with Travis Eckardt (39 n.o.) and Benjamin Lemmens (23 n.o.) to continue the chase next Saturday.
• Duane Anderson again claimed a bag of wickets for Marong against Sedgwick.
Anderson backed up his 6-34 against Spring Gully last round with 5-49 off 15.3 overs against the Rams.
The Rams were all out in the 71st over for 223, with Jordan Ilsley (79) leading the way.
Anderson’s 5-49 included the two key Rams’ scalps of Matt Dwyer (5) and skipper Rick Ladson (16).
Marong is 1-8 in reply, with the Rams having claimed the wicket of previous round century-maker Scott Ross (5).
• Emu Creek has given itself a shot of upsetting reigning premier Mandurang.
The Rangas are in early strife at 2-4 in reply to the Emus’ 198.
Earlier, the Emus had Justin Hancock (70) and Frank McArthur (62) to thank for pushing the score towards 200.
They took the score from 6-135 to 190, before the Emus lost their last four wickets for eight runs.
James Pietromonaco (3-20) and Clinton Botham (3-14) were the best of the bowlers for the Rangas.
• Maiden Gully will defend 195 against Spring Gully.
Captain Leon Beatty (75) and opener Alex Gorrie (47) were the chief run-scorers for the Gully.
Nigerian paceman Saheed Akolade (4-66) claimed four wickets for the Crows.
