NORTH BENDIGO: A North Bendigo woman prevented two men from stealing her dog on Thursday night.
At 8pm at a house on Edwin Street, the woman heard her Bullmastiff howling and barking in distress in the backyard.
She saw two men, described as in their late 20s, attempting to steal the dog.
When she confronted them, one grabbed her by the arm and threw her to the ground, her report to police stated.
The two men left the house without the dog, driving away in a white VT Holden Commodore sedan.

BENDIGO: Investigators are on the scene of a reported overnight break-in at the Dr Harry Little Preschool on View Street, Bendigo.
GOWER: One person died after a car crash in Gower, south-west of Bendigo, overnight.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, which happened on the Castlemaine-Maldon Road just after 9.15pm.
