O’Connell blasted 116 (12 sixes, eight fours) in the Redbacks’ 1-169 off their 10 overs against Golden Gully.
Golden Gully went down swinging, but fell short in making 6-137, which included an unbeaten 59 from Brad Webster.
• Axe Creek must be sick of the sight of Sedgwick’s Rick Ladson at the crease.
After making 185 on Saturday against Axe Creek, Ladson took to the Cowboys again on Tuesday in cracking 71 n.o.
The Rams answered Axe Creek’s 7-106 with 1-166.
As well as Ladson’s unbeaten 71, the Rams also had Jordan Ilsey (47) and Andrew Sheehan (40 n.o.) get among the runs.
Earlier, after winning the toss and batting, Charles Ready’s 41 was the top score for Axe Creek.
• Mandurang won a one-run thriller against Spring Gully.
The Rangas compiled 4-109 batting first, led by an unbeaten 57 from Will Anderson.
It proved just as enough as Spring Gully answered with 4-108, with Brett Hobbs (49) and Keiron Dole (35) scoring the bulk of the runs.
• In another tight game, Marong held off United by six runs.
Richard Murphy top scored with 47 in Marong’s 5-117 after it was sent in, before United was restricted to 8-111 in reply.
