Michael Darmody, 49 of California Gully, and Bradley Roberts, 24 of Long Gully, are accused of kidnapping a drug dealer at gunpoint.
They faced Bendigo Magistrates Court on Thursday where Darmody repeatedly claimed a gun was never used.
But on Thursday evening a Kangaroo Flat resident found a sawn-off shotgun in a front yard close to the crime scene.
Detective Senior Constable Len Ladner said the gun
would be kept as evidence and used in ongoing investigations in the case.
Darmody and Roberts are charged with a number of offences including kidnapping, false imprisonment, intentionally causing injury, assault, threats to kill, aggravated burglary and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Police claim the pair kidnapped a Bendigo ice dealer planning to rob him off money and drugs.
After a struggle at the man’s home in Kangaroo Flat the pair allegedly left empty handed and were found by police hiding in bushes between Kangaroo Flat BP and McDonalds.
Bail applications for both men have so far been unsuccessful and they have been remanded in custody until a committal mention on December 12.
