Cinemas 1 and 2 are out of action as the walls are painted, new carpet laid and new seats installed.
Cinema 1 is expected to be finished by December 4 and cinema 2 by December 9. Renovations began in early November.
The upgrade will continue in February when the Bendigo Cinema’s front of house is overhauled. Works are expected to be completed by late March.
It will see the step and candybar renovated and refurbished along with the halls including the toilets.
Works will be completed in stages and after hours to ensure the complex remains open during the upgrade.
Bendigo Cinemas general manager Ron Bolitho would not comment when asked if a Gold Class cinema was part of the renovation plans.
The cinema complex opened in 1975 as The Golden Twin. It screened box-office hit Jaws. It was renamed Bendigo Cinemas in 1997.
