Bendigo apprentices will save $330.20 each year on standard registration on light vehicles.
Bricklayers, carpenters, joiners, electricians and plumbers will be eligible to vouch for the scheme, provided their bosses vouch for the fact the use of their vehicle is essential to their work.
Almost 20,000 apprentices across Victoria are eligible.
Roads and Road Safety Minister Luke Donnellan said the money saved by apprentices could be spent on tools and training.
“We’re putting more money back in the pockets of apprentices so they can get the skills they need for their future career,” he said.
“These vehicles are often important tools of the job, and we’ve delivered on our commitment to halve rego for eligible young bricklayers, carpenters, joiners, electricians and plumbers who rely on our roads to get to and from each job.
Training and Skills Minister Steve Herbert said the scheme would help support the state’s future tradespeople.
“Apprentices are the backbone of our training system and the future of our workforce. This discount shows our government’s commitment to look after them,” he said.
