Breath, the ripple of water, wind blowing in the trees: these are the sounds that accompany Denise Martin’s meditative video installation currently on show at the La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre.

The work is poetically titled, “…if a breath was as long as a day or a night and if the edges of my skin were soft and intimate with the world…”.
The exhibition muses on our sensory experiences; on how we see, hear, and touch the world around us.
There is a rhythm to the universe that flows in the water and beats in our chests.
Martin is interested in these connections between our inner and outer worlds.
She asks us to pay attention and absorb the beauty and stillness found in the ordinary moments of our lives.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Tegan Lang this Saturday, November 14 at 2pm.
All are welcome to attend.
