The Meeting
I met Scotty for the first time at a friend’s birthday. He was really charming when I met him – he even gave me his jacket to wear because it was raining. Little did I know that he never gives his jacket to anyone, as it was his favourite.
From there, he was at other parties and we started to hang out a bit with our mutual friends. He and I became best friends and we were for about nine or ten years. I told him everything, was able to confide in him and he was always able to make me laugh and be happy.
He was always there to keep me safe and, whether it was just on a night out or on holidays, he was there having fun and entertaining us all as usual. I was falling for him but didn’t really realise. We eventually gave in and decided to give it a go after many years as friends.
The Proposal
It was Easter 2014 and we were driving back home to Melbourne (where we lived then) and we decided to go to my grandparents homestead where I loved going as a child. It had been many years since I had been there, and my dad had been restoring the property with his brothers so we decided to have a look.
We strolled around the property and were in the front garden when all of a sudden he was down on one knee. It was such a romantic moment, we were so excited.
The Wedding Day
This would have to be the best day of our lives. It was such a fun and memorable time with our loved ones.
We had our ceremony and reception at Rustic Emu Bottom Homestead in Sunbury on the Easter long weekend and we made a real event of it, staying in the region with our bridal party and family.
The Dress
My dress was from Simonelli Bridal Couture in Fairfield, Melbourne, with some lovely alterations done by a family friend.
The Cake
Our rustic butter cream cake was made by Cakes by Gemma-Louise in Bendigo. It was delicious.
The Photographer
Our photography was done by Alli Oughtred Photography in Melbourne.
The Honeymoon
We went to Sydney for our minimoon and we are planning to go to America and Hawaii next year - something to look forward too!
