Kirkpatrick was a key figure in the Dragons posting a 9-1 regular season record, before bowing out in the preliminary final against eventual champions the Pakenham Silverbacks.
He was among nine Dragons named in the 2015 division two All-Victoria team.
Kirkpatrick was joined by quarterback Lucas Elliston, offensive linemen Daniel Siddons and Jarrod Kean, defensive lineman Bryan Greenwood, linebackers Bruce Fu and Joe Hughes, and defensive backs Daniel Fawkner and John Washbourne.
The Dragons' Mike Hughes was named coach of the year.
Club president Thomas Prince said the awards went part way to off-setting the disappointment of falling short of a championship.
"Obviously we had a really good season and only lost one game during the (regular) season," he said.
"Unfortunately we couldn't follow through in the finals, but it was good to receive some reward for our efforts.
"Especially after the feeling of 'we could have done so much more', but it gives us some accomplishments we can take into next season."
For the third consecutive year, Bendigo Dragons were awarded the most disciplined club.
The award is based on penalties conceded and personal fouls committed.
Prince said the award was testament to the values of sportsmanship and being a class unit on and off-field instilled into the team by coach Hughes.
He said the club was hopeful of retaining Hughes as its coach.
"It's obviously a big commitment," Prince said.
"Our big challenge is that we know there are people with (gridiron) knowledge and skills in the Bendigo community, they just haven't put their hand up.
"We'd encourage anyone wanting to be involved in the club environment to do so."
The 2016 Gridiron Victoria season will start a month later than normal in June.
The Dragons will begin pre-season in February.
