Martin fired rounds of 71-88-72 and 70 be three-under par for the tournament, 13 shots behind runaway winner James Nitties.
Martin looked set to push for a top five finish when he made the turn in his final round at three-under par. However, bogeys on the 15th and 17th forced him to settle for a tie for 10th.
Meanwhile, Golf Central Victoria scored a comprehensive 7-2 win over Goulburn Valley in the final round of Melbourne Country Week on Friday at Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
The win gave GCV something to smile about after it was relegated to division two for next year’s championships.
Numbers nine and eight Geoff Viney and Hayden Nielsen won their first matches for the week.
Sub-par golf from Liam Carney resulted in a 3/2 victory at number seven and Eric Barclay showed his best form of the week for a 3/2 victory at sumber six.
Further wins to Brent Rothacker, Marcus Gill and Craig Grigson, who thrashed Shepparton’s newly-crowned Country Champion, Kyle Michel 6/4 capped off a strong finish to the week.
Golf Central Victoria, along with Goulburn Valley, will play in division two next year against East Gippsland, Sunraysia and Western Districts for the right to be promoted back up into division one.
The competition in 2016 will take place at Keysborough, Riversdale and Victoria golf clubs.
