Ms Phillips celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday, with an intimate family gathering at Mirridong Nursing Home.
A fiercely independent woman, Ms Phillips lived at home for her first 88 years.
A generous soul, she always had room for a stray cat – at one point having space for 27 felines.
She was born with a twin brother, but her mother sadly died in childbirth and she was raised by her aunt.
She has lived near Bendigo all her life and comes from a musically gifted family.
She played the mouth organ and her father the button accordion, while her husband Les played piano.
Her family suspect her key to long life was that she never drank or smoked.
