The club is presenting a show featuring renowned singer Marina Prior and the Victoria Welsh Choir on Sunday, September 27.
Proceeds from this event will be used to fund the purchase of audio visual equipment to assist business and community presentations and events at Ulumbarra Theatre.
It will also fund future bursaries for the Bendigo Senior Secondary College Musician of the Year Award.
Rotary Club of Bendigo South member Terry Dalwood said the club planned to make the fundraiser a regular event.
“Whatever we raise this year we might not spend all of it. We may start a fund and add to it to help fund ongoing scholarships with students around the region,” he said.
“The (fundraising) program has evolved over time and when the Welsh Choir showed interest in what we were doing, it was a matter of finding a high profile personality.
“Hopefully we can work with the Victorian Welsh Choir again with other special guests. That’s the plan.”
Marina Prior is renowned for thrilling audiences across the country and highly regarded as Australia’s leading lady of the theatre stage.
The Victoria Welsh Choir is known for performing stirring hymns, beautiful ballads, show tunes, age-old folk songs, arias and Celtic favourites.
Alongside, Ms Prior and the Welsh Choir will be Bendigo Senior Secondary College pianist Kaitlin White.
Ms White was the winner of the inaugural Rotary Club of Bendigo South musical scholarship and named 2014 Bendigo Senior Secondary College musician of the year.
Captial Venues and Events business development manager David Stretch said the Rotary Club of Bendigo South’s intiative was very pleasing.
“The members were able to secure the services of Marina and the Welsh Choir and we are thrilled to have a theatre that is able to accommodate a performance of this scale and appeal,” he said.
“They approached Capital Venues and Events with notion of setting up a fund to support community activity at Ulumbarra Theatre.”
Marina Prior and the Victoria Welsh Choir perform at Ulumbarra Theatre on Sunday, September 27 at 2pm. Tickets are $40.
