The Superoos clash with Bridgewater in Saturday’s grand final at Newbridge.
Saturday will be the Superoos’ first grand final since 2009 in what was a game that Mitiamo brought an end to Calivil United’s record-setting run of consecutive premierships.
The Demons had gone into the 2009 grand final on the back of six premierships in a row – a feat never before achieved in the LVFL.
But all good things must come to an end, and it did for Calivil United that day as the Superoos halted their premiership run with a commanding 58-point win – 22.11 (143) to 12.13 (85) – in a game in which Mitiamo twin towers Ryan Haythorpe (eight) and Alex Chapman (seven) combined for 15 goals.
Joel Pianto and Tom Grant are the only members of that 2009 Superoos’ premiership team who will take the field this Saturday against a Bridgewater side that has won the past five premierships and has the chance to equal the record of Calivil United.
The Mean Machine has won the past five flags by a combined 383 points, and hasn’t lost to Mitiamo during its reign of dominance that started in 2010.
