Bendigo Magistrates’ Court heard the man was riding his motorcycle in the Melbourne suburb of Thornbury in January 2013 when he lost control and came off the bike.
He was breath tested at the scene and taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital where he provided a blood sample which tested positive for alcohol and methamphetamines. His blood alcohol reading was 0.09 per cent.
The court heard the man was intercepted by police on Sandhurst Road in California Gully on the morning of June 9 2015 and failed to produce a driver’s licence. He underwent a preliminary oral fluid test at the scene which tested positive for illicit drugs.
The man refused to accompany the officer to the police station for further drug testing, saying he could not do so as he had work to do on his house.
Magistrate Richard Wright disqualified the man from driving for 18 months with no conviction. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1100.
