The Bulldogs hit back with vengeance from last week’s loss to Colbinabbin to smash the Demons 22.11 (143) to 5.7 (37) in the first semi-final at Colbinabbin.
It was the most lopsided result in a HDFL final since Mount Pleasant beat Elmore by 114 points in the 1994 first semi-final.
“After last week (qualifying final loss to Colbinabbin) we didn’t have to say a hell of a lot. The boys were all keen to respond and everything we asked of them today, they did,” Bulldogs co-coach Rob Bennett said.
The Bulldogs were quick to kill off the contest, leading by 40 points at quarter-time, 48 at half-time and 81 at three quarter-time, before the final margin of 106.
North Bendigo – which will now meet Colbinabbin in the preliminary final - spread its goals between 10 players, led by four each to Michael Leech and Sam Barnes.
The best for the Bulldogs were onballer Sean Morris (two goals), Alex Shipard, who ran with Hayden Wright, and Darcy Richards in defence.
White Hills was best served by half-back David Wright, youngster Doolan Nihill and Aaron Downie.
“The boys gave a lot of effort and kept battling away all game, but we just couldn’t execute any skill and North capitalised,” said White Hills coach Shaun Makepeace, who after three years at the helm is standing down.
