Vintage enthusiast Laura Maywood, or Miss Bettie B Goode, entered the Bendigo Advertiser’s Op Shop Hunt to celebrate National Op Shop Week.
“I have been op shopping, thrift hunting, upcycling and crafting vintage style clothing in Bendigo for seven years and know the ins and outs of each store,” she said.
“The biggest challenge of sourcing vintage is finding youthful pieces that are flattering and feminine as most available are what older people would of worn in the 1950s and 1960s.
“My greatest op shop experience was every time I went into View Hill Bargain Shop, that sadly closed last month, it was always a treasure trove with honest prices and friendly staff.”
Ms Maywood along with Rachel Brown bought entire outfits for under $20 each.
With receipts to prove their purchases it was clear these two ladies knew where the bargains were hiding.
Ms Maywood and Ms Brown agreed op shopping was all about finding your own unique style and running with it.
Ms Brown achieved success in buying a spring/summer outfit from two different op shops.
She said she made good use of the discounts where she could.
