The Bendigo man’s father has today spoken about the heavy sadness of losing an only son, brother and a much-loved uncle.
“We are all heavy hearted,’’ David Rosewall said.
“This is a real shame for us – he was a really nice guy, had a lot of friends and this is such a God damn shame.
“The whole thing is still a mystery, there is no rhyme or reason to it.’’
Daniel disappeared in January, 2010. The car he was driving was found several days later by police – out of fuel and abandoned on a dirt road near Broken Hill, more than 700km from Bendigo.
Daniel’s mobile phone, which had a flat battery, his wallet and baseball cap were found in the car, which still had the keys in the ignition.
In July this year stockmen found human remains in a paddock on Wilangee cattle station, near Silverton and about 70km north-west of Broken Hill.
