And we’re on a mission to find Bendigo’s cutest or most stylish pet on the catwalk.
While some precious pooches have been enjoying tailor-made coats to warm them on some of Central Victoria’s coldest days, it’s clear pet-owners are now setting their sights beyond the thin veil of practicality.
A study from earlier this year revealed cats wearing brightly coloured scrunchies could in fact protect wildlife, with the relic of the 90s rightly scaring off birds and other potential victims.
But for most central Victorians, dressing up their pets is just a good dose of light-hearted fun and a great photo op.
Local woman Cass Fuller, whose ginger cat was wrestled into a hammerhead shark costume, said she had also dressed up pets as Yoda and Princess Leia for May the 4th, or Star Wars Day.
We’re hosting a competition to find Bendigo’s best-dressed pet.
The winner will receive two tickets to the Bendigo Cinemas and entries will close on August 31.
