The Braves had a 5-5 record and looked set to be just making up the numbers in the SEABL south conference.
Two weeks out from the SEABL play-offs and the Braves have stormed into second place on the south conference ladder and coach Harvey has his sights set on a third conference title.
“Most teams have forgotten about us,’’ Harvey said.
“We still haven’t played our best basketball and we’re sitting second.
“Mt Gambier deserves to be the favourites because they have been the best team all season.
“No-one really gives us a chance of beating them in the play-offs, but I have no doubt we can.
“I want an opportunity to have a crack at them (Mt Gambier) because I feel as though we’re peaking at the right time.”
Mt Gambier is six games clear in top spot, having won its past 17 games.
The Braves need to win two of their final regular season games to secure second spot and a semi-final clash with the Pioneers in Mt Gambier.
The Braves are away to bottom team Frankston this Saturday night, before hosting east conference power Geelong in Bendigo on Sunday.
Their final game is against Brisbane at Bendigo Stadium on Friday week.
“Two out of our three games are at home, so I’d be very disappointed if we don’t sew up second spot,’’ Harvey said. “You need that double chance to give yourself the best opportunity of making the grand final.”
