The fourth-placed Storm remains half a game behind third-placed Gisborne, with the two teams still to play each other in round 17.
It took the Storm until the final quarter to ware down the gallant Tigers.
The Storm looked the better side early after opening a three-goal lead at the first change.
However, the Tigers rallied to cut the deficit to just one by half-time.
The game was still in the balance at three quarter-time, but a 12-9 final quarter from the Storm was enough for them to clinch the points.
The defeat all but ends Kyneton’s hopes of making the finals.
Elsehwere, top of the table Golden Square outclassed Maryborough 76-34, Sandhurst thumped Castlemaine 80-30 and Gisborne overcame a slow start to defeat Eaglehawk 54-34. No scores were submitted from the South Bendigo versus Kangaroo Flat clash.
The final five is officially set in the Loddon Valley Football Neball League A-grade competition.
Mitiamo’s 63-39 loss to Bridgewater sealed the Superoos’ fate, meaning Newbridge will face the Mean Machine in the elimination final.
Pyramid Hill is on track to secure the minor premiership after defeating Inglewood 61-25. Pyramid Hill just needs to defeat fifth-placed Newbridge in next Saturday’s final round to clinch top spot and a berth in the second semi-final.
YCW blew its minor premiership hopes after losing to Calivil United 35-34. The two clubs appear all but certain to clash in the qualifying final in a fortnight.
In Saturday’s other game, Bears-Lagoon Serpentine proved too strong for Marong 42-28.
Meanwhile, in the Heathcote District Netball Asscociation, White Hills missed an opportunity to close the percentage gap on ladder leader North Bendigo.
The Demons sealed the all important four points against Mt Pleasaant, but they would have been hoping for a bigger margin than the 31-24 final scoreline.
The Demons and North Bendigo are locked on 56 points, but the Bulldogs have a 9.5 edge in percentage in the race for top spot.
Third-placed Colbinabbin remains in the mix for the top spot after its 49-28 win over Huntly.
Fourth-placed Leitchville-Gunbower kept the pressure on Colbo in the battle for the double chance by thrashing Heathcote 70-8.
Lockington-Bawawm United edged six points clear of Mount Pleasant in fifth place when it defeated Elmore 48-21.
