Station Street resident Dave Bridgfoot said his wife was up feeding their newborn daughter when the white hatchback smashed through their fence at about 1.45am on Saturday.
The vehicle hit a light pole before smashing through the fence and ending up in the front garden.
Mr Bridgfoot said the impact sent the couple’s letterbox flying through their bedroom window, just past their daugher’s bassinet.
The 19-year-old female driver of the hatchback was uninjured and told police she had fallen asleep at the wheel.
Police are making inquiries into the incident.
