The BHRC has named its Saturday, August 29 meeting as the Kez’s Hideaway Memorial Race Night.
Kez’s Hideaway is a homestead being built in Redesdale in memory of Kerri Gray for the OTIS Foundation.
Kerri lost her battle with breast cancer in 2011, but before she passed she came up with the idea of a retreat for the OTIS Foundation.
Kez’s husband Paul Gray, a Bendigo-based builder, is constructing the homestead.
It will become a special retreat for women and men recovering from and living with breast cancer.
Money raised at the Kez’s Hideaway Memorial Race Night will go towards the construction of the retreat’s roof.
The highlight of the race night will be an on-track function and the running of the Kez’s Hideaway Lady Drivers Pace, with all horses to be driven by a female.
Leading female drivers Rebecca Bartley, Monique Burnett, Donna Castles, Tanya Cavallaro, Kate Gath, Kerryn Manning, Lisa Miles, Jodi Quinlan, Ellen Tormey and Amanda Turnbull will wear specially-designed pink pants for the race.
Tickets for the function are $75 per person, which includes racetrack admission, race book, drink on arrival and a two-course meal.
Guest speaker is Bendigo Bank OTIS Ambassador Karlee Thorpe and an auction will be held.
The BHRC will donate $30 from every ticket sold to Kez’s Hideaway.
For bookings phone Tracey McMaster at the BHRC on 5449 3205.
