As founder of caravan group Jayco 40 years ago, the Bendigo-born businessman has a long affinity with regional Victoria.
His unwavering support for local manufacturing and industry, the arts and sport made him the natural choice to speak at the awards and inspire small business operators, shire mayor Wendy McIvor said.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone, not just business to come together to celebrate their success and the success of others within the shire,” Ms McIvor said.
“To be inspired by the achievements of Gerry Ryan, a regional person, who has done exceptionally well and someone to look up to, especially for our youth – the leaders of tomorrow.”
She said Mr Ryan would speak about the importance of collaborating in business, especially in manufacturing, and would no doubt have plenty of career lessons to share.
