Number one ruckman for many seasons, Nicolson will play his 175th senior game.
The popular clubman made his senior debut against Kangaroo Flat in 2005.
Nicolson’s run of 17 senior finals includes two premiership victories, one runners-up, and two preliminary finals.
He has kicked 22 goals at senior level.
Nicolson was a key player in the under-18s teams of 2003-04 which included a premiership in 2004.
The Luke Monaghan-coached Eaglehawk will be determined to cap the 200-game milestone with a victory.
The Two Blues have achieved a 10-4 record this season and will start favourite against Gisborne, 5-9.
Eaglehawk full-forward Matt Gretgrix is a runaway leader in the race for the Ron Best medal awarded to the league’s top goalkicker.
Gretgrix has kicked 62 goals and will be a major danger to Gisborne’s defence.
The Gisborne attack is led by Matthew Knox on 47 goals.
A Hawks’ onball and midfield division led by the likes of Cameron Milward, Ben McPhee, Brodie Filo, Hayden Collins and Glenn Daly should set up enough scoring chances to win this contest.
The Rod Sharp-coached Gisborne fought back from a poor first half to win last Saturday’s home game against South Bendigo.
The play of key defender Tim Walsh, onballers Tom May, Ollie Messaoudi and Hamish Govan, and key forward Ryan Baker will be crucial to Gisborne’s chances of an upset win.
Eaglehawk’s team printed in Friday’s edition of the Bendigo Advertiser was incorrect. The Advertiser apologises for the error.
