The City of Greater Bendigo is calling for volunteers to help pack two shipping containers with supplies for schools in the Maubisse region of East Timor.

The supplies include school furniture, books, uniforms and sporting equipment as well as knitted baby clothes and women’s jumpers.
Mayor Peter Cox encouraged anyone able to lend a hand to get along on the day.
“East Timor is a very poor country and the items that have been donated are much-needed by people living in the Maubisse region,” he said.
The first shipping container will be packed from 8.30am on Saturday August 1 at the former Teacher’s College site in Osborne Street.
The items were donated by local primary schools and knitting groups with support from Rotary Clubs.
