ORGANISERS of Heathcote on Show estimate the 2015 event brought in at least $247,000 in sales for participating wineries.
The event committee released its executive summary of the event, outlining increased visits from across the state and benefits to the participating wineries, based on visitor surveys and wine sales.
The summary showed 88 per cent of wineries had an increase in visitor numbers compared to previous years, resulting in sales of up to $443,000 overall.
Some wineries reported an increase in visitors of up to 50 per cent.
Among the visitors, 54 per cent came from Melbourne and 23 per cent were from Bendigo – both figures an increase on previous years.
A further 13 per cent visited the area from elsewhere in the state.
Heathcote Tourism and Development president Peter Maine said their efforts in bringing more people to the region had been successful.
“I am delighted to report on the continuing success of the Heathcote on Show strategy to get more people to come to Heathcote and the region and to give them an experience that keeps them wanting to come back,” he said.
“Planning is already underway for 2016 and there will be a meeting soon to share Ideas on how we can continue to improve this event and build the visitor experience.”
In addition to promoted cellar door visits, Heathcote on Show included a community festival in the township.
The event was held over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
