As well as playing five years with the Trojans, where she was captain, McAppion has also spent the past two WNBL seasons playing with Spirit rival Canberra.
McAppion is a 25-year-old guard who will provide further back-up to Kelly Wilson and Belinda Snell.
“She played well at Troy University in Alabama, as well as being an AIS graduate. She is a multi-talented player who is looking for a breakout season in the WNBL,” Spirit coach Simon Pritchard said on Friday.
“She can defend as well as shoot from the three-point line. Her strength makes her versatile in guarding players taller than herself.”
McAppion said she was excited to be continuing her WNBL career with the Spirit.
“There’s a lot of excitement around what the Spirit is doing this year. There are so many top-shelf players in the squad… it’s going to be fantastic,” McAppion said.
