The rough and ready two-piece will play alongside up-and-coming Bendigo outfit Jack and The Kids and Dermott Seller at the Golden Vine this Friday.
Alma Kalorama is brothers-in-law Michael Cooper on guitar and vocals and Davey Noordhoff on drums.
They might better be known to some central Victorian music fans as two-thirds of the former Melbourne three-piece Celadore.
That trio enjoyed success with their debut EP Distance Is A Gun and follow-up The Bright and Blue, through Melbourne-based music label Popboomerang Records, before splitting..
Call it fate, or maybe a sense of unfinished business, Noordhoff said he and Cooper were destined to be band-mates again after spending most of the last decade playing alongside each other in various acts.
"When Celadore dissolved our basic plan was to move on, take some time to explore the world and rejuvenate ourselves," he said.
"But there was definitely going to come a time when we played together again.
"We definitely had a chemistry we wanted to keep working on. I guess, being brother-in-laws, we hang out together a lot anyway, so it’s only natural we are making music together again."
Noordhoff said the band had no shortage of new material to draw upon and had released two singles in just a short space of time.
He described Cooper as one of the more prolific songwriters he knows, with the pair feverishly working towards an album release by year’s end.
The Golden Vine gig will be the pair's first in Bendigo as Alma Kalorama, though they did tour previously as Celadore.
The drummer said playing live was where the true test of band's credentials lied.
"We pride ourselves on trying to be a good live band - that's the place we shine best," Noordhoff said.
"We decided a few months ago that we wanted to play a lot more live and get out of the Melbourne bubble and play in the regional centres.
"It something we enjoyed in other bands, The crowds that come along are always friendly and appreciative."
Away from the band, Noordhoff divides time between university studies in building design and managing his own independent record label Catch Release.
The label is home to five artists from Melbourne, Sydney and the Otway Ranges, all of whom have featured during the Leaps and Bounds Festival in Melbourne.
Alma Kalorama play at the Golden Vine Hotel on July 24 from 9pm.
