I am deeply concerned that Asylum Seeker and Refugee children and their families are being subjected to inhumane conditions and treatment in Detention Centres under Australia’s name. I feel ashamed that Doctors, Health Care workers and teachers, who, in Australia are mandated to report suspected neglect and abuse, can potentially be prosecuted and jailed for carrying out their Duty of Care in Detention Centres. Surely if people in detention are processed expediently and treated in an acceptable and humane manner there should be no need for such secrecy. What is it that we have to hide in these Centres?

Should we push issues and problems into darkness?
What have we become? Asks Jan Govett in her letter to the Addy 14th july 2015 in reference to the women protesting about children in detention in a shopping centre , asked to move away by management.
Senator Joe Bullock, made the following statement in Parliament which should be the accepted principal of us all;
“To be tolerant of your views , I do not need to pretend that you are just as right as I am, but rather to accept that you have a perfect right to hold a view I believe to be wrong, even if I find your view offensive”
Censorship whether it be by our actions or by legislation can be likened to “an oligarchy that would bring famine upon our minds" stated that great English poet John Milton.
Should we hide issues and problems on subjects we don’t like or push them into the darkness, so they fester in the minds of bigots ?

Never disappointed by John
It was saddening to read that Tuesday's edition of the Bendigo Advertiser will no longer include a column by John Holton.
I have always looked forward to reading his tales and was never disappointed.
The colourful, narrative of his life’s reflections were my favourites.
They were always an easy reading, heartwarming account.
You are definitely a great storyteller, John! Hoping we are able to read more of your anecdotes in the future.

Concerns for legislation
There are serious ramifications for the whole of society if marriage is redefined.
We should all seriously consider such outcomes rather than giving into emotive arguments being bandied around by populist social engineers.
Think about nature. Two of a kind cannot reproduce offspring.
If continued, a species would eventually be eradicated.
Yes, gay couples now have technology to help them produce children.
Consider the children. In such circumstances the child cannot live with its biological mother and father.
Children are “forcibly removed” from either its biological mother or father.
We are just starting to come to terms with one stolen generation and now we want to create another?
It has taken decades to discover the horrific damage caused to the multitudes affected, and it has not just been aboriginal but also those like the children featured in "Oranges and Sunshine".
As recently as 2013, Julia Gillard apologised for the stolen generation from forced adoption.
Do we really want to be party to creating a new stolen generation?
It is always smart to look at the maker’s handbook to see how things work best.
There are good reasons our Creator made man and woman to be married and to be fruitful and multiply.
To legislate to violate our maker’s intent for us is to wreak havoc on society.
We should learn from Sodom and Gomorrah and Pompei.
