Spencer, a South Australian native, played four years at NAIA level with Hannibal-LaGrange University in Missouri where she was an All-American three times and broke the school’s season points record.
Nicknamed “Splash”, Spencer was heavily chased by the Adelaide Lightning, but decided to play with the Spirit having played under coach Simon Pritchard at under-20 level.
“Splash is a late starter in basketball who still has major upside,” Pritchard said.
“She is coming to Bendigo to further improve her game and to back up Kelsey Griffin.
“Splash has a high basketball IQ and will be a versatile four-man who will bring great screening and rebounding to the team.
“She has good perimeter range and a canny ability to find the ring in the key.”
Spencer said she was excited with the chance to play in Bendigo.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to play with and learn from amazing players,” she said.
“Simon is a quality coach, so I feel very privileged to be going to Bendigo. I am very excited for the upcoming season and I can't wait to see where the team goes."
Spencer is presently playing for the South Adelaide Panthers in the South Australian Premier League where she is averaging 11.5 points, five rebounds and two assists per game. The Panthers are seventh on the ladder.
